2016 North American International Auto Show Design Contest

Each year the North American International Auto Show invites students to participate in a poster design contest for their event. Out of 707 entries from 53 high schools, 2 of 16 winners were from Bloomfield Hills High School!

Congratulations to Marco Lozano (2nd Place 10th Grade Category, $250 prize) and Lindsay Dauch (2nd Place 12th Grade Category, $250 prize). Both students are in Mrs. Esshaki's Graphic Design class.

Marco chose to photograph historic and important icons in Detroit in black and white with an orange accent. "I was very happy when I won," expressed Marco.

"I wanted a really simple design because I think that's more effective. I didn't wanted to do the stereotypical wheels and cars so I went with the key idea. I was very surprised when I won," explained Lindsay.

Their names will be mentioned in the Auto Show program, their artwork will be on display at Cobo Center in Detroit from January 16-24th, they will receive checks through the mail in their name, a framed certificate, and their names mentioned in the official press release.

The posters were reviewed and judged by the 2016 NAIAS Chairmen, a General Motors automotive designer, a College for Creative Studies instructor, and State Farm Insurance representatives. All winning entries are posted on the NAIAS website. The 28th NAIAS Poster Contest was open to all Michigan students in grades 10 through 12.
